Adventure on a Firing Range - Soon

Posted by Joie - Filed under , , , ,
A friend of mine is a member of the Special Action Forces of the Philippines. I have met him during our way home from a Palawan summer vacation. He was very accommodating so we easily bacame friends. He also stays here in Manila so the communication between the two of us was still there. ON the ship, he was asking me and my friends if we wanted to try out fire shooting. At the ship, everybody seems to be interested to do so. But later on I was the only one left having conversations with him regarding guns anf fire shooting.

He is currently assigned in a far province right now so the gun shooting lessons are still on hold.

Guns have never been a fascination for me until now. Holding a gun seems to be a scary thing to do. But after browsing on several sites about airsoft, guns, it seems to be a cool thing for me now. I know guns should be held responsibly. But as a sport, shooting seems to be a very challenging sport to try. Hopefully when he comes back, I would be able to undergo lessons with him and my curiosity with guns and shooting would be satisfied.

I can't help but wait.

August 21, 2009 - Special Non-Working Holiday ( No Work, No Pay )

Posted by Joie - Filed under , , ,
Last week were estatic to discover that we still have two-holidays in August. August 21 - Nonoy Aquino's day and August 31 - National Heroes Day.

Ninoy Aquino Day is celebrated in commemoration of the heroes Death Day. Twenty-five years ago, he was assasinated at the Ninoy Aquino Airport leaving a mark to the country's history.

Yesterday, a memo was posted in our office's bulletin board. Ninoy Aquino Day is a Special No-Working Holiday. What startled us is its a No Work, No Pay Day.I just can't seem to get it, it's a holiday so you are not suppose to go to work, but if you won't go to work, you won't get paid.August 21 is a red higlighted day in the calendar. Just like Christmas and other regular holidays.Holidays are no work with pay days. How come Ninoy Aquino's Day is a No Work no pay day?
If our country cannot fix simple glitches like this, how can they handle bigger issues in our country?

Can't Wait For Summer

Posted by Joie - Filed under , , , ,
Summer is still 6 months away from now, but I can't help but get excited to visit the beach again.
Last summer due to the unpredictable weather, we were unable to go the beach. My boyfiend and I, together with my siblings went to a new resort in our place. It was a fun experience. On our first visit to the resort, I was with my boyfriend, brother and cousin. My cousin need to learn how to swim because she would be having swimming as her lesson in PE. My younger brother claims he knows how to swim, but lo and behold, he doesn't. I really laughed hard when he was shouting for help ( " ate , ate, intayin mo ako ) when he had cramps. It was hilarious. I was like ( ayan, ang yabang yabang mo, kinisig ka lang, kala mo mamatay ka na) your so proud and then here you go screaming as if your going to die because of cramps. My boyfriend ,cousin and I laughed hard at him. Later the day, my boyfriend and I taught the kids how to float. I don't know how to breathe underwater but I took up swimming lessons in college so I was able to teach them the basic breathing and floating exercises. My brother was so happy to learn the turtle float.

Our next trip to the place was together with my father, my cousins dad and the family of my other brother. We even brought along my 1 year old niece. She even had a swimsuit for the trip. The kid really enjoyed the day. She would sneak to drink water in the pool. She taught it was a funny thing to do since I was scolding her everytime she does it. The two teenagers, my youngest brother and cousin practiced the basic swimming techniques they have learned.
Hopefully next year, if the weather would be better and if the budget permits, we would be able to visit a beach for the summer. If not, we would gladly spend the day swimming at the local resort near our place.

Just wanna share a few pictures of my niece in her swimsuit.

Filipino's with OFW Friends and Families Abroad, BEWARE !!!

Filipino's with OFW Friends and Families Abroad, BEWARE !!!

Last Saturday ( August 8, 2009 ) , I received a text message from an unknown number. (+639194340595)

"Eto bagong roaming ko, na-block kase yung dati. Kumusta na kau dyan? Magpapadala ako ng package next week, sana magustuhan niyo. Miss na miss ko na kayo. "

This is my new roaming contact the number, the first one got blocked. I will send a package next week, I hope you would like them. I really really miss all of you.

Stupid me, I assumed he was my friend Roemm who works in Saudi Arabia. I got pretty excited so I did not notice the difference in the way he exchange text messages with me. After a few hi and hello's he offered me a business. We would sell prepaid cards. He told me that a 500 prepaid card here costs around 1500.00 pesos there. Imagine 200% profit. A very feasible business. I would send him the pin number of the cards everytime someone buys a card from him and he would later on send the payment and my profit share through Western Union. I did not had money for capital that time. I'm always broke, so he told me to look for a capital so we can start on our business.

Every day I have been receiving text messages from him asking if I had already prepared funds for our business. This felt weird because he was always talking about the money not bothering to say his regards to my family and my boyfriend. Looking back on his messages, they were all around 7am-8am.The Philippines and Saudi Arabia has a 5 hour difference in time zone, so why is he always awake during wee hours in the morning?

So today I have decided to call him on his local number abroad (which costs 20 pesos per minute which explains why I did not call him the first time he send me a text message ).

Roemm answered the phone like a guy who was disturbed from deep sleep. He asked who I was and talked to me like he did not understand what was happening, he yawned and talked like he was still asleep. I told him about the text message and he told me that his roaming number did not got blocked. He seems to be still sleepy (it was 4am there) so I just told him I would tell him the story later this day through our Yahoo Messager.

Thank God I did not had money, if I had, I might have been a victim of this scammer.

After the conversation, I send a message to the phoney guy telling him that I can't find funds for our business. I asked him to send me money instead so that I can buy the prepaid cards. He said he doesn't have money right now. I told him that I was having a hard time funding the business because my older brother ( i did not have one) had cancer and my father who works at the NBI ( my father is a farmer ) does not have extra money to lend me.

He never replied after that.

I would like to take this opportunity to spread this incident to fellow Filipino's who have families and friends abroad. Be aware. Spending 60 pesos for a 3 minute call to call your love ones is much better than splurging money on a business that was a scam after all.

I would also like to thank God. I know I am in deep financial trouble right now, but If I was not broke, I might have lost 5000 pesos or more in the hands of scammers.

God moves in mysterious ways.
Everything has a reason.
So when life seems to hard to bare,
just pray.
God has a purpose for everthing.

Make Money Online...

I have been making money online for almost a year now. It's not that much but it is worth the effort and time I have spent online. At first, being the naive person I am, I immediately believed that making money online is really possible.
My first venture in making money online were in paid to click sites. Some sites proved to be worthy and some are not. But clicking advertisements were boring for me and does not suits my personality, so I became inactive with those sites.Later on I have discoverd Mylot, a paid to post site. It is really something very enjoyable for me to do because I can freely express myself and other members positively share their thoughts and ideas about the interests and topics i have discussed about.I have met a lot of online friends in mylot, and through them, I have discovered more legitimate sites where I can earn money. They are very supportive so I am really happy I have met them.
Another online money making program I enjoy doing are writing sites. Some sites restrict you to certain topics and interests and some sites welcomes work of different topics and interests. Just this morning, I have received an e-mail from one of these sites telling me that my payment has already been sent to my paypal account.
I immediately checked my account, and lo! I have an extra 16.84$ in my pocket. That is enough to cover up for a weeks grocery supply. I am so happy. My hard work has really been paid of. Imagine earning something like that in 3 days. If I have my personal computer and if I could spend more time doing these online activities, I might have earned more, I might have earned more than what I earn in my full time job. I am sacing up to buy myself a laptop for me to use in these online activities.Hopefully, in the near future, I could give up my job and enjoy making money at the confort of my own place. I won't need to live far from my family anymore.
I would like to share the payment proof of the earnings I got from Work Online.

I hope to inspire more people that it is really possible to make money and earn a living online.

Goodluck and Godbless everyone.
